About the Festival
Since 2015, the State Historical Museum of the South Ural has been holding the Debarcader Festival every year, the purpose of which is quite unusual in terms of museum business. Its purpose is to explore and promote cutting-edge trends in contemporary art.
What is “Debarcader”? It is a testing ground where experiments are carried out to synthesize a wide range of art disciplines. The search blurs the boundaries between creator and observer, artist and spectator, stage and auditorium.
Structure of the Festival
The Festival’s programme usually consists of the five basic tracks: Theater, Poetry, Design, Music, Fine Arts, but every year the Festival has some special projects from other spheres: dance, cinema, photography, etc.
The Design track of the Festival in 2020 consisted of three exhibitions: “Wake-Up Call” — an exhibition of the 11th Virtual Biennale Prague 2020 and two exhibitions from the Golden Bee 14 — Global Biennale of Graphic Design: a special project of the Biennale “Coronavirus and We” and one of the nominations of the Biennale “Peace be with you!”. All the exhibitions unfold the theme “Time After” from the different points of view but with common humanistic thought: “How we, human beings, could adapt to the suddenly changed world? How to live? How to love? How to accept the new normality?”.
